Ara Chakrabarti

As the director of the Georgia Electronic Design Center (GEDC) and Schlumberger Chair of Microelectronics, Professor Joy Laskar is widely respected as one of the world's leading academicians in the field of high-speed, mixed-signal technology. At Georgia Tech, he holds the Schlumberger Chair in Microelectronics, is the Founder and Director of Georgia’s Electronic Design Center, and heads a research group of 50 members (graduate students, research staff and administration) with a focus on integration of high frequency mixed-signal electronics for next generation wireless and wireline systems.
In 1998 he co-founded an advanced WLAN IC Company: RF Solutions, which is now part of Anadigics (Nasdaq: Anad). In 2001 Dr. Laskar co-founded a next generation analog CMOS IC company: Quellan which is developing collaborative signal processing solutions for the enterprise, video, storage and wireless markets.
Dr. Joy Laskar received the M.S. and the Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Ara Chakrabarti is a global Senior Executive with 20+ years of experience in diverse industries including Information Technology, Manufacturing, and Consulting. Mr. Chakrabarti has been involved in number of Silicon Valley corporations in activities including M&As, venture capital fund raising, start-ups, and organizational turnarounds.
Prior to joining Wi-Rider, Mr. Chakrabarti was the Chief Information Officer of Portola Packaging, Inc – a $275 million manufacturing corporation with 1400 employees. He also managed a start up incubator that was primarily funded by Portola Packaging and been on the board of advisor of number of start ups.
Mr. Chakrabarti was the founding member and Senior Director of Sand Hill Systems in the areas of B2B e-commerce software development. Mr. Chakrabarti spent over ten years with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) as a Senior Director of regional accounts of EDS’ Technology Sector Strategic business unit.
Mr. Chakrabarti is an engineering graduate from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Dr. Lim has over 18 years of experience in wireless communication area both industry and academia. Dr. Lim has been serving as the associate director of technology in GEDC, in charge of cognitive radio project.
Before joining the Georgia Tech, he has been working as a member of technical staff at Samsung Electronics, Korea, for 4 years to develop high speed broadband wireless communication system. In addition, he spent two years at Communication Research Lab, Ministry of Post and Telecom Japan, as research fellow.
Since 2005, he has been involved in numerous standardization/regulation organizations for the commercialization of Cognitive Radio technology and White Space (DTV channels that opened for unlicensed broadband wireless service). He is currently serving the convener of TC48 TG1 in ECMA International, the standard for low power internet and multimedia communication in white space.
He holds Ph. D. degree from Hanyang University, Seoul Korea.
